जय लक्ष्मी रमणा,
स्वामी जय लक्ष्मी रमणा ।
सत्यनारायण स्वामी,
जन पातक हरणा ॥

रत्‍‌न जडि़त सिंहासन,
अद्भुत छवि राजै ।
नारद करत निराजन,

जिन पर कृपा करी ।

श्रद्धा तज दीन्ही ।

छिन-छिन रूप धरयो ।

“ॐ जय लक्ष्मी रमणा” is one of the most universally recognised and beloved aartis in Sanatan Dharma. It is sung as the concluding prayer of the Shri Satyanarayan Katha — the sacred narrative of Lord Satyanarayan’s appearance in Kali Yuga to bless his devotees. This aarti is attributed to Swami Shivanand, as referenced in the closing verse — “कहत शिवानन्द स्वामी मनवांछित फल पावे” — indicating its composition by the saint Shivanand Swami. It is written in simple, musical Hindi making it accessible and memorable for devotees of all ages.

Opening Line & Its Meaning
The aarti opens with — “ॐ जय लक्ष्मी रमणा, स्वामी जय लक्ष्मी रमणा” — meaning “Victory to the beloved of Lakshmi (Lord Vishnu/Satyanarayan), O Lord, victory to the consort of Lakshmi.” The address “Lakshmi Ramana” — he who delights Lakshmi — immediately establishes Lord Satyanarayan as Vishnu, the divine husband of the goddess of wealth and prosperity.

Verse by Verse Significance

Verse 1 — “रत्न जड़ित सिंहासन, अद्भुत छवि राजै। नारद करत निराजन, घण्टा ध्वनि बाजै”
Lord Satyanarayan sits on a jewel-studded throne of wondrous beauty. Sage Narada performs his aarti while the bells ring in divine celebration.

Verse 2 — “प्रकट भये कलि कारण, द्विज को दर्श दियो। बूढ़ा ब्राह्मण बनकर, कंचन महल कियो”
For the sake of Kali Yuga, the Lord appeared as an old Brahmin and transformed an impoverished devotee’s humble dwelling into a golden palace — the first story of the Satyanarayan Katha.

Verse 3 — “दुर्बल भील कठारो, जिन पर कृपा करी। चन्द्रचूड़ एक राजा, तिनकी विपत्ति हरी”
He showed his grace to a weak tribal hunter and removed the misfortunes of King Chandrachud — demonstrating that Lord Satyanarayan’s blessings are available to all, regardless of caste or status.

Verse 4 — “वैश्य मनोरथ पायो, श्रद्धा तज दीन्ही। सो फल भोग्यो प्रभुजी, फिर-स्तुति कीन्हीं”
The merchant received his wish but abandoned faith — and suffered the consequences. When he returned to devotion and prayer, the Lord forgave him. This verse teaches the importance of sustained faith.

Verse 5 — “भाव भक्ति के कारण, छिन-छिन रूप धरयो। श्रद्धा धारण कीन्हीं, तिनको काज सरयो”
Through sincere devotion and faith, the Lord takes different forms at every moment. Those who hold steadfast faith — all their works are accomplished.

Verse 6 — “ग्वाल-बाल संग राजा, वन में भक्ति करी। मनवांछित फल दीन्हों, दीनदयाल हरी”
Even the cowherd boys and a king worshipping in the forest received their heart’s desire — showing the Lord’s compassion for all devotees, however simple their offering.

Verse 7 — “चढ़त प्रसाद सवायो, कदली फल, मेवा। धूप दीप तुलसी से, राजी सत्यदेवा”
The Lord is pleased with offerings of banana, dry fruits, dhoop, diya and tulsi — simple, pure offerings made with love.

Final Verse — “श्री सत्यनारायण जी की आरती, जो कोई नर गावै। ऋद्धि-सिद्धि सुख-सम्पत्ति, सहज रूप पावे”

Correct Puja Vidhi
1. Set up an idol or image of Lord Satyanarayan (Vishnu) with Goddess Lakshmi
2. Offer yellow flowers — particularly marigold and champa
3. Offer panchamrit — milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar
4. Offer banana (kela), dry fruits and panchameya prasad
5. Light a ghee diya and incense sticks
6. Place Tulsi leaves — Lord Vishnu’s most beloved offering
7. Ring the bell throughout the aarti
8. Sing the aarti together as a family with full devotion
9. Distribute prasad — panchamrit and fruits — to all present
